MISHARA MUSIC & FREE DOWNLOAD

I am very pleased to announce that I am officially a Mishara Music Artist!! For so many years early on in my music career, I envisioned this time when a fictional record executive would randomly catch my show or call me up and say ‘Sam, we think you’re great and we want to sign you’. Easy right? Years went by and I just kept playing shows, writing songs, doing my thing. As time passed and the music industry continued to evolve, I became less and less enamored with the fantasy of “making it”. Nowadays I care about creating quality music that connects with people. I focus more on being patient, taking my time and putting out music that never feels rushed or insincere. I promise you that every note coming out of me from now on comes from a place

BE LOVE.

Last year on this special day I wrote a somewhat lengthy entry about searching for LOVE, my interpretation of LOVE, and the power of LOVING yourself.  Consider this an extension of those thoughts….   Let me start by saying I am far from being an expert on LOVE.  My friends will back me up on that.  I’ve dreamed of LOVE, mishandled LOVE, taken LOVE, given LOVE, but don’t claim to understand it.  Over the course of this past year, I have gratefully found true, pure LOVE, both in myself and in another incredible person.  But my quest to define LOVE and cultivate it more continues.   I recently had a phone conversation with a great friend of mine who is in the process of becoming a Jesuit brother.  He had just come back from a 30-day silent retreat.  I

Giving Thanks

This morning I woke up in beautiful San Juan Capistrano, CA with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.  I thought to myself, ‘How lucky am I?  My heart is so full & I have so much THANKS to give’.  Like clockwork, today’s festivities always get me thinking of what & who I am grateful for in my life.  I try to practice gratitude daily, but today specifically requires a heightened sense of gratefulness. Today I am choosing to “sweat the small stuff” in a sense.  I was just reading an excerpt from The Daily Gratitude Blog and about midway down the page, I came across a post entitled “How Much Gratitude Can You Handle?”  It inspired me and got my mental wheels turning….In paying attention to the “small stuff” we often find it is really the “big stuff”, and in fact the

Smile. It’s good for you.

Wherever you are reading this, take a moment, take a deep breath, and smile.  It’s good for you. How do I know? Well, besides being a musician, I am a doctor.  I also know how to juggle.  Now let’s play Two Truths and a Lie….(Are you smiling yet?) Sorry, back on track here: We do know from various sources nowadays that smiling can actually benefit our overall health.  When we laugh, our bodies release endorphins which act as natural stress & pain relievers.  When we smile, it positively affects our moods, which in turn can positively affect our mental health.  Our bodies have to work harder to frown than to smile.  I even happen to believe that smiles are contagious, but I don’t have medical research to back that up….YET.  Let’s face it, friends – When we smile, we
